How can I earn CME credit for reading JAMA or an Archives journal?
A:
If you are a physician, you can register for JAMA and Archives CME at the JAMA & Archives CME Web site. Then choose a CME course, read the article, and complete the CME quiz. A score of 60% or better allows you to earn 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit for this course.

How will CME credit certificates be issued?
A:
After you earn a score of 60% or better on the quiz, a message will be sent to your e-mail address indicating that you have earned 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit for completing this course. You may view and print your CME credit certificate for completing this course at My CME at any time.

What if I do not achieve a satisfactory score on the CME quiz?
A:
You may take the quiz as many times as you wish until you achieve a score of 60% or better. You also have the option to refer back to highlighted text in the CME article that corresponds to specific quiz questions. If you do not have time to complete your quiz, you may save your quiz and return to complete it later.

A continuously updated account will be maintained for you at My CME. This account will include all CME credit hours received since July 1, 2003, the date that JAMA & Archives CME was launched. Your CME credit account may be printed at any time to serve as a CME transcript for professional certification purposes.

Does my online CME account also include CME credit hours obtained for participation in the JAMA & Archives Reader's Choice print CME activity that was discontinued in 2002?

No. CME participants must continue to maintain paper records of CME credit obtained from our previous print CME activity.

No. CME is only offered online.

Does JAMA & Archives CME qualify for Category 1 CME credit?
A:
Yes. The American Medical Association (AMA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide CME for physicians.
The AMA designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit per course. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

JAMA & Archives CME offer 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit per issue. You can earn up to 48 credits annually through JAMA CME, up to 22 credits through the Archives of Internal Medicine, and up to 12 credits through the Archives of Dermatology, Archives of Neurology, Archives of Ophthalmology, Archives of OtolaryngologyHead & Neck Surgery, and Archives of Internal Medicine.
